Following the partnership’s endorsement of a successful
project proposal, one final check will be made. The final and formal
appraisal will make sure that the application is technically eligible
for funding before full approval is granted.
A successful application will receive financial support from the
Connecting the Coalfield Partnership. That support is derived from
the European Regional Development Fund. The project sponsor will
be required to monitor the project and ensure that it delivers
what is described in the application and conforms to all of the
other requirements of the funding.
The monitoring of projects and the claiming of grant
During the application stage the project sponsor will have identified
a set of performance indicators and an expenditure timetable for
the project. Monitoring report forms will be sent to the sponsor
at quarter year intervals. The project sponsor will be required
to complete those forms and identify the progress that the project
has made against the agreed targets.
As part of the quarterly
monitoring process the project sponsor will claim grant against
the money that has been spent in the last quarter. Grant money is
always paid in arrears.
