Description: To
engage with disadvantaged/ disenfranchised young people between
the ages of 13-25, by offering the opportunity of participating
in a youth/community allotment. The

build relationships with the young people who attend and offer

funding for the design and build of the Hetton Centre. The
Hetton Centre is a multi-functional community facility or 'One-Stop-Shop' in
the centre of Hetton. The community facility allows for an integrated
programme of educational, recreational, cultural and social activities
delivered by the City of Sunderland and other statutory and voluntary
organisations co-located within the building.

Project Description: The project
will recruit 42 individuals, representing 21 community and voluntary
organisations to attend an apprenticeship scheme which enables local
people to develop through participation in social enterprise. The
apprenticeships run over 6-9 month cycles. The model enables the
apprentices to learn from each other, from experienced mentors and
through formal workshops and activity weekends.

the wider outreach area. Learning Mentors develop programmes of
courses in order to engage the local community and those that are

a befriending and supportive environment.

community while at the same time improving the physical environment

Project Description: The vision of the project is to create a space for young people, ran and supported by young people (with workers facilitating this process). It is anticipated that it will operate in the style of a café with drinks and snacks available. In this comfortable informal environment, young people can access services such as health, housing, information and advice. Also, at least 24 young people will train in particular skills such as DJ skills, introduction to Youth Work.

Project Description:To lay high quality paving in Market Street area, incorporating heritage features in consultation with shopkeepers, traders and residents. Dropped kerbs and tactile pavements to enhance access for disabled and thos with pushchairs. The physical improvements will incorporate heritage and cultural features linked to the theme of commerce as well as aesthetically improving the main street in Hetton Downs, encouraging new businesses and strengthening existing ones.

Project Description:
To provide a wireless network that will provide access to internet to eligible members of the public. Access will be granted to pupils, their extended family and citizens eligible to receive equipment as part of the Computers for Pupils scheme and Digital Challenge programme. This will assist in reducing the feeling of isolation for housebound citizens, and encourage active participation for in community events.

Project Description:
To provide family learning and community support on the nursery grounds. The aim is to provide a base for high quality training and family learning. The project would provide a community room, which would be used for nurture groups and other professionals e.g. Health Visitors, Speech & Language Therapists to provide early intervention for children, thus encouraging higher chances of economic well being. The project would enable parents and carers in the local community to access training and employment opportunities whilst their children are in nursery or childcare onsite, thus helping them to remove a major barrier for those wishing to return or enter employment.
